Mya Catino
I am a senior double-majoring in African American Studies and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, with a minor in Human Rights Advocacy. After Wesleyan, I plan to attend law school with the hope of becoming a human rights lawyer focused on reproductive justice. I am also an abortion doula, providing emotional support to individuals receiving procedural abortions. I am originally from New Hampshire, where I love to hike, ski, and walk my dog, Wilson.
Abstract: My project analyzes the relationship between marital status and opinion on abortion in two specific instances: protection of maternal health and for any reason. I found that marital status has a significant association with opinion on abortion in these instances, but that political party and religion can account for this association to varying degrees.
