Abstract: Scientific literature has focused on the risks of binge drinking among adolescents. However, much of this literature overlooks sociability as an important factor because it is difficult to define and measure. Using longitudinal data from Add Health, this project examines whether adolescent binge drinking is associated with young adult income and whether sociability influences that relationship. Limitations of the existing research include reliance on self-reported alcohol consumption and income measures, as well as inconsistent findings across studies (Mundt & French, 2013). The results of this project show a statistically significant relationship, but the effect is weak and explains little variation.
